Constructed with highly durable EPP foam and an EPS foam puck, the helmet’s 2-piece, rugged ABS shell is specifically designed for a secure, cradle-like fit, ensuring maximum comfort during extended use.

The Capitan MIPS is Black Diamond’s tough, long-lasting helmet, designed with extra coverage for both the sides and back, as well as incorporating MIPS technology. Despite its durability, it maintains a sleek, cradle-like fit for all-day comfort. The addition of the MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) enhances protection by addressing rotational motion (or kinematics) caused by angled impacts to the head. This system has been shown to reduce rotational forces on the brain by absorbing and redirecting off-angle impacts. With a 2-piece ABS shell, a combination of EPP foam and an EPS foam puck, the Capitan complies with the enhanced side and back protection standards set by the UIAA. The strategically placed vents provide excellent airflow when temperatures rise. Additionally, a low-profile suspension system ensures an adjustable fit, while integrated headlamp clips with an elastic keeper securely hold your light in place, making it perfect for night-time expeditions.
